TOPIK Levels and Score Cut-offs (TOPIK I & II, PBT and IBT)
TOPIK gives you a level, not a pass or fail per section. The level is decided by your total score only. The cut-offs below come from the official TOPIK regulations (별표1).
Paper-based TOPIK (PBT)

Internet-based TOPIK (IBT)
The IBT has fewer questions and each section is scored out of 200, so the totals are larger.

Things people often get wrong
- No section minimum. Since the 2014 reform there has been no per-section cut (과락); the official table lists totals only. A weak section can be made up by a strong one.
- Below the lowest band = no level. For TOPIK I PBT that means under 80 points; for TOPIK II PBT, under 120.
- Scores are valid for 2 years from the results date.
- TOPIK I and TOPIK II are separate tests. TOPIK I can only give levels 1–2, and TOPIK II only levels 3–6.
