Privacy Policy – TOPIK Prep

1. No account, progress stays in your browser
You can use TOPIK Prep without signing up. Your answers, mistakes to review, mock-test history, a mock test in progress (answers, position and end time, so you can resume it), writing drafts, vocabulary progress, speaking answers you typed or dictated, settings (language, speed, daily goal) and usage counts are stored only in your browser’s local storage. We do not receive them. Clearing your browser data deletes them. To work offline and install the app, the site also keeps copies of its own pages, scripts and the listening recordings you have played in your browser’s cache (a service worker); these copies contain no personal data.
2. Listening audio
Listening questions play recorded audio files where available. These recordings are hosted on our server and were generated in advance with a licensed text-to-speech service; playing them sends nothing about you to that service. Lines without a recording, vocabulary words and speaking prompts are read by your device’s or browser’s built-in Korean voice. Depending on the browser, that text may be processed by the browser maker’s speech service (for example Google or Microsoft).
2a. Speaking practice (microphone, optional)
Speaking practice can turn your spoken Korean into text using your browser’s own speech recognition, only after you allow the microphone. Depending on the browser, your voice may be sent to the browser maker’s speech service (for example Google in Chrome) to be transcribed. TOPIK Prep does not record, upload or keep audio; only the resulting text is saved in your browser. You can type your answer instead and never turn on the microphone.
3. Advertising (Google AdSense)
The home and result screens, the guides, and the vocabulary and writing pages may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google My Ad Center. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first. We do not place ads inside mock-test questions.
4. Server logs
Like any website, our server and Cloudflare (our network provider) process technical data such as IP address, browser type and the page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this to identify you.
5. Paid pass (future)
If a paid pass is introduced, payment will be handled by a payment provider on its own checkout page (we never see your card number), and this policy will be updated before that change.
