How to Write TOPIK Q53 (Graph Description) – Structure, Phrases and Example
Question 53 gives you a graph or table and asks for a 200–300 character description. It is worth about 30 points, and it is the most "learnable" question in TOPIK writing because the structure is always the same.
The 4-part structure
- Introduce the survey: who surveyed whom about what. ○○에서 ○○을 대상으로 ○○에 대해 조사하였다.
- Main result: the biggest change, with numbers. ○○은 ○년 ○%에서 ○년 ○%로 증가하였다.
- Comparison: the other items, using 반면, 한편.
- Reasons / outlook: if the task gives them. 이러한 변화의 원인으로는 … 을 들 수 있다. 앞으로 … 것으로 보인다.

Example answer (274 characters)
한국연구소에서 20대 성인 500명을 대상으로 평일 저녁 식사 방법에 대해 조사하였다. 그 결과 배달 음식을 이용한다는 응답은 2016년 18%에서 2026년 41%로 두 배 이상 증가하였다. 반면 직접 요리한다는 응답은 52%에서 33%로 크게 감소하였고, 외식은 30%에서 26%로 소폭 줄었다. 이러한 변화의 원인으로는 바쁜 생활로 요리할 시간이 부족해진 점과 배달 앱 이용이 편리해진 점을 들 수 있다. 이러한 추세가 계속된다면 앞으로 배달 음식 이용률은 더욱 높아질 것으로 보인다.
